Canada’s national team had a strong victory over their Qatari counterpart in the first half of the two teams’ 2026 World Cup Group B match this Friday morning GMT at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada.
Canada took the lead in the 16th minute through their star man, Cyle Larin, who followed Qatari goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada’s rebound, and Juventus forward Jonathan David scored the second with a rocket of a shot in the 29th minute.

Al-Anabi’s troubles didn’t stop there as their player Hamam Al-Amin was sent off in the 33rd minute after tripping a Canadian player on his way to a one-on-one with goalkeeper Abu Nada.
The referee initially awarded a penalty, then went back to the video technology and decided to award a direct free kick near the line of the penalty area, and the Qatari player was sent off.
Before the end of the first half, Jonathan David scored Canada’s third goal in the 45th minute (3+45 minutes), following a goal line rebound from Abu Nada.
The Qatar national team drew with Switzerland (1-1) in the first round of the group stage, which was the same result as Canada’s match with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Switzerland defeated Bosnia (4-1) yesterday, Thursday evening, in the opening round of the second round of the second group.
