China’s Foreign Minister said that developing countries are increasingly participating in world governing bodies.

Presenting China’s new white paper on equalizing international governance, Minister Wang Yi said the role of the United Nations should be strengthened and developing countries should have a stronger voice in the world.

In Beijing’s view, all countries should have an equal voice in international affairs, which means that the Global South should have more representatives.

China’s call comes at a time when the world has been gripped by a series of armed conflicts and faced with economic problems.

But is Beijing now establishing itself as the leader of the Global South? And will it be able to get enough support to do that part?
