The lack of options for selecting events in Google Calendar should not be a problem in the future. The previous limit of 11 pre-defined colors has now been added to provide users find up to 200 favorite types for special events on the Calendar web and mobile apps, and the Calendar API.
This was first rolled out yesterday to Google users quick release zoneswith an incremental release for most users starting on June 29th, although the update may take a few weeks to reach everyone. It’s available to all Google Workspace customers, Individual Workspace subscribers, and users with their own Google Accounts, and will be turned on by default, according to Google’s announcement.
There are currently 24 default colors to choose from, but users of Calendar online (or through the API) can define additional colors using the RGB color selector. Google says the update “fulfills a long-standing request” for more options, as it’s easy to break out of the previous 11 options — especially if you use Calendar for personal and business purposes. Now each event can have its own color instead of sharing it with other unrelated events, making it easier to draw them step by step.
