In the past few hours, social media platforms have become an arena of widespread anger among Al-Nasr fans, after reports linked the club with the possibility of signing Spanish coach Roberto Martinez next season to replace Portugal’s Jorge Jesus.
The news did not go unnoticed on Al-Nasrau Street as fans took to the comments and Tweets to dismiss the idea, deeming the Spanish coach not the right choice to lead a team that is aiming to retain the Saudi Roshen League title and perform strongly in all competitions.
The angry reactions come as Al-Nasr fans are still celebrating the team’s historic season under Jesus, which returned the league title to the club’s coffers for the first time in seven years.
Much of the public criticism focused on the technical aspects surrounding Martínez, as many fans felt that the Spanish manager had failed to build teams with a clear identity or strong personality on the pitch during his coaching career.
Fans have celebrated Portugal’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite having one of the strongest rosters at tournament level, with many believing the quality of names in the squad far outweighs the team’s performance on the pitch.

A number of Al-Nasr supporters also believed that the Spanish coach relied too much on the individual solutions of his players, failing to develop a collective system that could impose itself against big rivals.
Fans have shared harsh descriptions of the manager, with some describing him as “out of ideas”, while others see his limited success as down to the quality of the players he has worked with rather than the result of exceptional technical ideas.
The technicality was not the only reason for the public objection, but the controversy extended to the possible relationship between Martinez and Al-Nasr captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
A large section of international fans believe that the Spanish coach has yet to manage Ronaldo’s job in the Portugal team in the way he would like, accusing him of sometimes giving the Portuguese star special treatment at the expense of the team’s interests.
The criticism coincided with an attack on Ronaldo after the first-round World Cup draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo, as the Portugal captain went the entire match without scoring or scoring a goal.
Some fans believed that Martinez’s continued reliance on Ronaldo, despite his declining physical performance, raised fears that the same scenario would repeat itself at Al-Nasr, especially as the team includes a large group of stars and needs a coach who can make tough decisions without looking at names.
Perhaps the most important factor behind fans rejecting the idea of signing Martinez was the direct comparison to Jorge Jesus.
The Portuguese coach left Al-Nasr after leading the team back to the domestic podium and winning the Saudi Roshen League title for the first time in seven years, in addition to building a strong system that restored the team’s competitive nature.

Therefore, fans believe that the current stage requires a coach who can develop the project and continue to build on what has been achieved, rather than embarking on a new adventure with a name that does not enjoy much artistic consensus.
As rumors continue to swirl about the future of the coaching staff, Al-Nasr’s management appears to be facing a major test. As it searches for a name to lead the team into the new season, fans are keeping up the pressure via social media in an attempt to prevent what they describe as a “wrong decision” before it becomes a reality.
The question remains in Nasravi’s house. Is the administration responding to the voice of the masses or does Martinez see the right man to lead the next phase?
