The G7, BRICS and emerging powers are vying to play a role in global order reform.
For half a century, a few wealthy Western democracies wrote the economic laws of the world.
But the world order is becoming increasingly complex, and although the Group of Seven (G7) is still one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, a challenger has emerged.
BRICS has grown, and is said to demand a greater voice in the Global South. This group of countries speaks for almost half of the world’s population – and accounts for most of the world’s resources, energy and resources.
Between the two, a third force is gathering power: the so-called middle powers, the big states that can’t ignore and don’t want to choose sides.
