Take advantage of the Colombian national team Portugal lost to a draw (1-1) against the Democratic Republic of CongoHe made the most of it and managed to win against Uzbekistan (3-1) in the early hours of Thursday in the first round of the 2026 World Cup Group Eleven competition.
Bayern Munich star Luis Diaz led his country, Colombia, with a goal and an assist as the Latin side top the group with three points, while Asians, who are making their first appearance at the World Cup, are bottom of the standings without a point.
Colombia opened the scoring in the 40th minute through Crystal Palace right-back Victor Munoz, who received a wonderful long-range pass from Luis Diaz and took a one-touch shot into the net with a birdie.
Uzbekistan equalized in the 60th minute through Abbasbek Faizulaev, who took advantage of goalkeeper Camilo Vargas’ rebound to score his country’s first goal in World Cup history.
Uzbekistan did not enjoy the draw for long, as 5 minutes later Luis Diaz returned and scored the second goal against Colombia with a perfect shot from the penalty area. The Uzbek goalkeeper tried to block it, but failed.
