UK Weather: Heat wave developing to send temperatures above 30C


Temperatures are expected to rise to around 25-28C across the Midlands, East Anglia and southeast England on Thursday.

Elsewhere it will remain cloudy with rain, light for rain, temperatures around 17 to 24C, close to average for mid-June.

There will be further wet weather in northern and western parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales on Friday.

Then it will be drier and sunnier for all parts by the end of the week with some light winds. In the following days, the temperature in these areas will rise slightly, they will remain at a moderate level of 19 to 26 C.

Temperatures in the south and east of England are expected to rise further on Friday, with temperatures of 27 to 31C expected.

While Saturday will be less warm, Sunday and Monday will see temperatures return to the high twenties and up to 31 or even 32C.

There is a chance of some large thunderstorms across England and Wales on Monday.

If the heat continues in parts of the south-east until Tuesday, some areas could enter official heat wave conditions with temperatures above 27C or 28C for three consecutive days.

Heatwave thresholds vary by county, but will be set between 25C in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and parts of south-west England and 25C in London.
