Ukraine’s bid to join the European Union (EU) was boosted this week.

Succession talks have begun and Ukraine hopes to provide security guarantees as the war with Russia continues.

Moscow has been pushing Kyiv to strengthen its ties with the West. Now, Ukraine must meet EU requirements before being accepted as a member.

This will include changes in many areas, including the fight against corruption.

But what are the risks of including a country at war in the bloc? And how will Russia respond?
