One of the most anticipated electric cars is making its debut next week. It’s Blank Slate, a simple EV refresh made by Slate Auto, which tries to eliminate the high cost of a new car with a back-to-basics approach that means even electric windows are optional. Of course, the most important factor in this review process is pricing.
Many people are attracted to the idea of a car with a short wheelbase, no infotainment system or integrated modemwith the option to later convert to an SUV or fastback. In short, people will not jump at the sight of a car that is 150 miles away if it is going too fast.
When the Slate broke in 2025, it was targeting a price tag of around $20,000, assuming the $7,500 IRS white car tax still exists, but it was phased out that year.
Well, if an earlier leak on the website Slate is to be believed, the base price of the regular car will be just $24,950. The price was available for a few hours earlier today, and photos were sent to Slate leavesalong with other modifications. This includes a slightly smaller electric motor for the rear wheels—now 181 hp (135 kW) instead of 201 hp (150 kW), but the towing capacity has been increased to 2,000 lbs (907 kg).
Those prices and specifications are gone from Slate’s website, but we’ll have official prices and first impressions on June 24.
