Bernardo Silva (from Manchester City to Real Madrid – free transfer)
Jose Mourinho wasted no time in making radical changes to his squad after announcing he would take over as manager at Real Madrid as he used the experience of his Portuguese compatriot Bernardo Silva to make his second signing of the summer transfer window.
After winning six Premier League titles, the Champions League and a host of other honors under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Bernardo now heads to Spain on a two-year deal to reclaim the La Liga title from Barcelona.
Jeremy Boga (from Nice to Juventus – £4m)
Juventus confirmed on June 15 that they have officially activated the purchase option to sign Jeremy Bouga from Nice.
The former Chelsea winger spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at the Serie A giants, where he scored four goals in 15 league appearances, and now joins the club permanently for just over £4m.
Nicolo Zaniolo (Galatasaray to Udinese: £4m)
Former Aston Villa midfielder Niccolò Zaniolo has moved permanently to Udinese, who was in the Serie A club’s main squad in the 2025-26 season.
Following his first loan move from Galatasaray, Udinese activated a loan clause worth around £4m to sign the 26-year-old, with Zaniolo, who had five goals and five assists last season, penning a contract that runs until 2029.
Jaime Simpson-Bossey (Manchester City to Cologne – £4m)
After struggling to establish himself at Manchester City following his first-team debut at the hands of Pep Guardiola in 2024, James Simpson-Bossy spent six months at Celtic before joining Bundesliga side Köln in the second half of the 2025-26 season.
That short period was enough to convince the club to activate the permanent transfer clause agreed to be worth around £4m, with Simpson-Bosey signing a contract that runs until 2030.
Keisuke Goto (Anderlecht to Freiburg: £8.5m)
Freiburg, who qualified for the Europa League final, strengthened their attack by signing Japanese striker Keisuke Goto.
Guto spent last season on loan at Belgian second-tier club RSCA Futures, where he scored 13 goals in 31 games before returning to his parent club Anderlecht.
That was enough to convince Bundesliga club Freiburg to sign him, with board member Jochen Saier describing the 21-year-old as courageous.
Costinha (Olympiacos to Brighton: £11m)
Brighton have made an early move in the summer transfer window to sign Portuguese full-back Costinho from Olympiakos for around £11m.
The 26-year-old, who has played in the Champions League and Europa League with the Greek club, will compete for the right-back position with Dutchman Joel Veltman, who has spent a long time at the club and is set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Florentino (Benfica to Burnley: £21m)
Florentino became the second most expensive transfer in Burnley’s history after the club activated the £21m release clause in his contract to sign the Portuguese midfielder from Benfica on a permanent basis.
Despite being relegated to the second division during his loan spell last season, the 26-year-old, who previously featured in the Champions League, has made 33 appearances in all competitions and is expected to play a key role in the side’s first attempt at a return to the Premier League.
Mark Cucuria (Chelsea to Real Madrid – £52m)
Jose Mourinho has signed a Premier League player in his first deal in his second spell as Real Madrid manager as he agreed a £52million deal with Chelsea to include Spain midfielder Marc Cucuria.
The Blues’ failure to qualify for the Champions League for the 2026-27 season no doubt played a part in this, with Cucuria making the controversial decision to join Real Madrid despite being a Barcelona player earlier in his career.
