Tottenham have signed Scotland forward Kirsty Hanson from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.
Hanson was impressive in the Women’s Super League last season, scoring 12 goals in 22 matches.
Only Manchester City’s Khadijah Shaw and Arsenal’s Alessia Russo scored more goals than Hanson, who was named Villa’s player of the year.
He also received WSL Football’s Goal of the Season award for his strike against West Ham and it would be a big blow for Villa to lose him this summer.
“I’m absolutely delighted. It’s an exciting time to be part of this club,” said Hanson.
“I’m ready for a new challenge and I always want to get better every single day. Martin Ho, the staff and the players are at such an exciting point – and I want to be a part of that.”
The 28-year-old has a year left on his contract at Villa and it is unknown what fee Tottenham have agreed to sign him for.
He has scored six goals in 48 appearances for Scotland and will be reunited with Spurs manager Ho, with whom he worked at Manchester United when he was assistant coach.
“I know Kirsty well from working with him before and I know the qualities he brings as a player and as a person,” Ho said.
“He has strong experience in the league, international experience with Scotland and a clear hunger to progress his game.
“We are delighted that he has chosen to come to Tottenham Hotspur and I am delighted to be working with him again in an environment where we believe he can develop, contribute and be an important player for the club.”
Tottenham enjoyed a strong campaign in 2025-26, finishing fifth in the table in Ho’s first season in charge and they have already shown ambition in the transfer market.
