Best Handheld Players and Wearable Listeners (2026)

Before I start using a handheld simulator, I was completely skeptical. I’ve seen them attached to your phone or in a bag, and I didn’t think they would give you real relief from the heat—and they seemed pretty unnecessary. But now that I’ve used the fans on this list, I don’t know how I got on without them.

There are certain situations where having a portable fan makes your life even better: outdoor concerts, weddings, festivals, entertainment venues, sporting events, house parties. I don’t live in New York City anymore, but I imagine having one of these on the subway would be a game changer. Despite its size, it creates a storm—sometimes, it’s enough to keep you from getting sticky, shiny, and sweaty. If you want to get through a hot day without your makeup melting or flaking off, you need one of these portable fans.
