The author of the goal that qualified the Mesropean Lions to the World Cup has his say in the match against Norway
Iraq star Ayman Hussain wrote his name in the Mesopotamian Lions history books at the World Cup after he excelled against Norway.
Hussain scored a precious goal for Iraq against Norway in the opening round of Group Nine of the 2026 World Cup at Gillette Stadium this Wednesday morning.
Hussain’s goal was scored in the 39th minute from a header, taking advantage of Amir Al-Amari’s pass.
Hussein became the second player in Iraqi history to score at the World Cup after Ahmed Radhi, who scored for Al-Rafidayeen Lions against Belgium in 1986 in the team’s only appearance at the tournament.
The Iraqi national team lost 1-2 to its Belgian counterpart.
Ayman Hussain shone and scored the goal that qualified Iraq for the 2026 World Cup against Bolivia (2-1) in the tournament’s global qualifiers.
