The Supreme Court of Brazil has voted for the decision Eduardo Bolsonaro persuading the United States to interfere with the trial of his father, former right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro.
On Tuesday, three of the four judges on the panel voted in favor of the separation, with one remaining judge to vote.

They concluded that Eduardo Bolsonaro’s actions were a coercion against Brazilian justice and sentenced him to four years and two months in prison.
“It was not just a political opinion or opinion, but a behavior that threatened the Brazilian authorities and the citizens of Brazil themselves,” said Justice Cristiano Zanin, calling what Eduardo Bolsonaro “treasonous and treasonous”.
The conviction is the latest legal setback for the Bolsonaro family, which remains the dominant force in Brazilian politics.
Jair Bolsonaro has been in office for 27 years prison sentence to remain in office after losing the country’s elections in 2022.

Prosecutors accused him of conducting an illegal campaign to court US President Donald Trump and using foreign influence to pressure Brazilian officials to drop the case against Jair Bolsonaro.
Trump, Bolsonaro’s ally, has also tried to stay in office despite losing the 2020 election and has criticized Brazilian officials for harassing right-wing voices like Bolsonaro.
In July 2025, Trump he gave a letter announcing 50 percent tariffs on some Brazilian products, citing the case of Jair Bolsonaro, in particular, as a reason.
“This case should never happen,” Trump said he wrote at that time. “It’s a Witch Hunt that needs to end AT ONCE.”
Trump also issued an order Executive Order admitting one of the Brazilian Supreme Court judges involved in the Bolsonaro case, Alexandre de Moraeson the basis that he worked to “go after political opponents” and “suppress dissent”.
He called de Moraes a “threat” to the US, and his administration later expanded the sanctions to include relatives of justiceas well as other Brazilian judicial authorities.
The current president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has criticized this as an attempt to interfere in Brazil’s domestic affairs.
As relations with Lula worsened, the Trump administration eased its tariffs against Brazil. In December, it also lifted the sanctions against Moraes and his family.
Lula, meanwhile, visited White House in May and hailed what he described as a good meeting with his US counterpart.
But it is not clear what role Trump would like to play in the upcoming elections in Brazil.
Left-wing Lula is campaigning for a fourth term, and is expected to face stiff competition from Jair Bolsonaro’s eldest son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro.
A CNT/MDA poll released Tuesday shows Lula will receive 49.3 percent of the vote in the election against the senator’s 40.2 percent.
Flavio Bolsonaro has faced his own legal problems in recent months, with the police opening a survey in April to burn Lula. His contract to the shy banker they have also raised the attention of the media.
Jair Bolsonaro, meanwhile, faced questions this week about the discovery of guns at his home in Brasilia, where he is serving three months in prison for medical reasons.
Justice de Moraes also asked Bolsonaro’s legal team to explain the existence of the weapon, which the police found during a routine inspection on Monday.
Bolsonaro’s security guard initially said the 9mm Glock pistol belonged to him, but it was later revealed that it belonged to the former president.
De Moraes gave Bolsonaro’s legal team 24 hours to explain why “the convicted felon kept a gun at home”.
