Jan Paul van Heikke: Tottenham agree £52m deal for Brighton defender.

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a £52m deal to sign Dutch defender Jan Paul van Heek from Brighton.

The 26-year-old played in his country’s 2-2 World Cup draw with Japan on Sunday.

Van Heeke has one year left on his current Brighton contract and has shown no interest in extending his deal.

Brighton have rejected an offer from NAC Breda for the player to join them in 2020.

But now they have accepted Tottenham’s offer, paving the way for Van Heck to join former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi in north London.

Van Heeck made 131 appearances for the Segules as Fabian Hurzeler’s side started 36 of their 38 Premier League games last season as they finished eighth. This ensured that the club won the European Cup for the second time in its history.

Tottenham looked to strengthen Dezerby’s squad to improve their 17th-place finish in a row.

Scotland defender Andy Robertson has signed from Liverpool, while Argentine midfielder Marcos Senesi has agreed a move from Bournemouth.
