Maguire reveals the details of the call to remove him from the World Cup. Tuchel destroyed me

He wanted to play even for a minute

England defender Harry Maguire has revealed footage of the video call in which manager Thomas Tuchel announced his decision to drop him from the England squad for this summer’s World Cup, stressing that he had a tough time after one of his most important sporting dreams came true.

According to what he said during his appearance on Gary Lineker’s ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Maguire explained that the manager told him in person via video call, which he described as “very embarrassing”, noting that leaking the news to the media before it was officially announced was what disappointed him the most.

“Half an hour before I was called, something leaked, which was very annoying,” he said.

“I told him I was very surprised, very disappointed, but the conversation between us was honest and direct.”

He emphasized that Tuchel did not give him a clear explanation, saying only that he preferred to rely on the defenders who participated in the last selection games.

The 33-year-old football player said that he believes that he has done enough to secure his place in the team, adding: He also expressed his regret that this opportunity could be his last chance at the World Cup, saying: “In the next tournament I will be 37 years old, I would be happy to participate even for a minute.”

Following his dismissal, Maguire took to his social media pages to express his sadness, saying:
