World Cup tickets have sparked outrage among Saudi fans

Ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup matches have sparked outrage among Saudi fans who are in the United States of America or who wish to travel to support Al-Akhdar on his World Cup journey.

Saudi Arabia are set to open their campaign in the tournament with a strong clash against Uruguay in Group Eight, which also includes Spain and Cape Verde amid strong public interest in accompanying the national team to football’s biggest event.

But the public enthusiasm was met with an unprecedented increase in ticket prices on the secondary market, which raised a wave of anger among fans, especially with the difficulty of obtaining tickets at affordable prices ahead of upcoming matches.

According to a report conducted with a number of Saudi fans, ticket prices for some matches exceeded US$700, while ticket prices for some major clashes reached nearly US$2,000, which fans saw as a huge financial burden for those who want to watch the tournament from the stands.

Several fans confirmed that the cost of attending games is not limited to ticket prices, but extends to travel, lodging and transportation costs between American host cities, making attending more than one game a real challenge for many fans.

Despite dissatisfaction with the high prices, Saudi fans continue to flock to the host cities to support Al-Akhdar at the World Cup, hoping that the team will manage to achieve positive results that will compensate for the difficulty of travel and the high costs of fans to support their country’s team at the 2026 World Cup.
