Luke Littler aims for a clean sweep of the trophy after winning the World Cup of Darts with Luke Humphries. Darts News

Luke Littler is aiming for a clean sweep of every major darts trophy after his World Cup win with Luke Humphries.

Top seeds Littler and Humphries secured their World Cup victory with a 10-5 victory over Netherlands’ Michael van Gerwen and Jean van Veen.

It came after their dramatic 8-7 win over Wales’ Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny in the quarter-finals and an 8-3 win over Scotland’s Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies in the semi-finals.

The win was a record-extending sixth for England at the World Cup, with Humphries lifting the trophy for the second time since Michael Smith and Littler’s first in 2024.

World Cup glory now his, Littler currently holds World Cup, World Darts Championship, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, UK Open, Grand Slam, Premier League, Masters and Players Championship finals.

He will defend his Matchplay, Grand Prix, Grand Slam and Players Championship honors later this year, meaning the only trophy that still eludes him is the European Championship.

Littler’s first sight will be in the matchplay and he knows if his game stays as it is, a clean sweep could be on the cards.

However, he should be enjoying the moment with the man who is his rival right now.

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries reflect on their win over the Netherlands in the final of the World Cup of Darts.

“Obviously for myself, I think I have to wait for the matchplay,” Littler said.

“Now it’s all about, am I going to win every major this year? If I keep playing the way I’m playing, then yeah, I have a great chance.

“Tonight, it’s not just my night, it’s both of our nights together and we celebrate together.”

Michael van Gerwen was stunned to aim for a double four at a crucial moment in the final of the World Cup of Darts.

Although their rivalry will resume in the next few weeks, Littler is confident they will be back in 2027 to defend their World Cup title.

“100 percent. It makes no sense to win it and not come back,” he added.

“I think the first game against Spain just put the nail in the coffin for us. We know we can score, finish and obviously win together.

“We’ll be back next year.”

Highlights from England’s 8-7 win over Wales in the quarter-finals of the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt, Germany.

While future trophies are in sight for both Littler and Humphries, their win in Frankfurt was their redemption after crashing out in the second round on their debut in 2025.

Indeed, Humphries believed that this was just one victory that would prove the doubters wrong.

“Michael van Gerwen was incredible today. He’s back and he’s playing incredible darts,” Humphries said.

“We knew we had to take those chances. If you give this Dutch team a little bit of hope, they’re going to take it away from you.

Luke Littler reeled in the biggest fish checkout to help England pip Wales to the 2026 World Cup of Darts.

“We played in the game the way I think everyone expected us to play in every game.

“We may have been a bit lucky against Wales, but we ran with the luck we had in that game and showed how well we can play as a team.

“We had a lot of doubters. People who didn’t think we could play well as a team, and just do it alone, so I’m proud of us together.

“We worked hard and we won together.”
