Amad Diallo scored in the 90th minute to lift Ivory Coast to a 1-0 win over Ecuador in their first World Cup match in twelve years.
The teams combined to score three times before Manchester United’s winner broke the deadlock to secure three points for his side at the Philadelphia Stadium on Sunday.

Diallo – who came on as a substitute in the 56th minute – jumped and fired a left-footed shot from inside the penalty area that beat goalkeeper Hernan Galindez. Wilfried Singo set up the goal with a powerful run down the right.
Making their fourth World Cup appearance and first since 2014, Ivory Coast he took a big step to reach the knock-out stage for the first time.
Elye Wahi struck the ball in the 52nd minute for Ivory Coast, Ecuador’s John Yeboah and Nilson Angulo did the same in the first half.

The Ivory Coast were boosted by Yan Diomande’s forward play as the Leipzig striker created a number of scoring opportunities, particularly on the right. This included a goal which Wahi almost scored following Diomande’s hard ball.
Ivory Coast, which has not scored a single goal while going 8-0-2 in 10 qualifying games, will also face four World Cup champions Germany, who. beat Curacao 7-1 earlier on Sunday in Group E.
Ecuador will face Curacao. All these matches will be played on 20 June.
