The series has regained its popularity since the introduction of new hypercar rules for top class cars in 2021 – among manufacturers including Ferrari, Peugeot, Alpine, BMW, Toyota, Genesis, Cadillac and Aston Martin.
Le Mans – part of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) series – draws around 350,000 fans to the Circuit de la Sarthe each year, while other races such as the Six Hours of Spa are growing in popularity.

France’s top female talent Doreen Pin was riding high in LMP2 before the race but her Duquesne team retired with hours to go after a brake failure.
In the LMGT3 class, the American manufacturer Corvette was victorious through Ben Keating, Nicky Catsburg and Britain’s Johnny Edgar.
The sister Corvette run by TF Sport’s Racing Team Turkey was sixth with Northern Ireland’s Charlie Eastwood, who won Le Mans in 2020, Ireland’s Peter Dempsey and Turkey’s Salih Yoluk.
But Northern Ireland’s Dan Harper had heartbreak on his Le Mans debut as gearbox problems in his BMW forced him to retire in the final four hours of the race.
