Mark Skinner: Man Utd manager has ‘no doubts’ about his position


Manager Mark Skinner says he has “no doubt” he is the best man for the job at Manchester United, despite criticism from fans.

United’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Women’s Champions League suffered a major blow last weekend with a goalless draw with Tottenham.

It leaves them fourth in the Women’s Super League table, two points behind Arsenal, with just two games remaining.

Asked if he still thinks he’s the right man for the job, Skinner said: “Oh, absolutely, absolutely, no doubt. You’ve seen the growth of our team.

“If you look at our work, there have been highs and lows, of course there are, that’s normal in any season.

“We’re fully focused on getting this team to where we want to be, and we’re not done yet.

“We want to put our team in a position where we can win titles going forward.”

Skinner said he had received reassurance from the club’s decision-makers and was “fully aligned” with the board’s ambitions.

“No matter what people say about me, I have to focus on performance. I’ve always done that – I’ve always been honest and truthful,” he said.

“I’m going to put myself back in that position to make sure we get this team back to winning ways. That’s what I came here to do and will continue to do.”
