Ecuador dominated possession for the first 45 minutes of their match against Ivory Coast early on Monday and squandered numerous scoring chances to settle for a goalless draw in the first half.
The crossbar prevented Ecuador from scoring two goals in a row, giving the Ivorians another chance to settle things in the second half.
The first attack came in the 23rd minute after a mistake by Ivorian Emmanuel Agbadou, capitalized on by John Yeboah, who fired a rocket from outside the penalty area but it hit the post.
Just 7 minutes later, in the 30th minute to be precise, a new opportunity was created for Ecuador when Alan Minda received the ball in the penalty area and made a powerful shot, which again the post did not allow to enter the net.
In the fifth group, the teams of Ecuador and Cote d’Ivoire compete with the teams of Germany and Curacao, who met yesterday, Sunday, and the cars won (7-1).
