Brazil are far from the top goalscorer at the World Cup… and Germany are coming close

Brazil added to their record as the highest goalscoring team in World Cup history after Vinicius Junior scored in a 1-1 draw against Morocco in the first round of the 2026 World Cup last Saturday night US EAST time.

The Seleção reached their 238th goal in World Cup history, overtaking second-placed Germany on 232 goals.

Apart from Brazil and Germany, Argentina is in third place with 152 goals, followed by France with 136 goals, then Italy with 128 goals, Spain with 108 goals and England with 104 goals.

Holland ranks eighth with 96 goals, ahead of Uruguay, who scored 89 goals, and Hungary completes the top ten with 87 goals.

Four-time World Cup winners Germany begin their 2026 World Cup campaign on Sunday against modest World Cup debutants Curaçao in Group Five, which also includes Cote d’Ivoire and Ecuador.
