Portuguese Wall Ruben Amorim, former manager of Manchester Unitedthe most obvious candidate to take over the technical leadership of Milan next season.
As reported by the British newspaper The Athletic, the 41-year-old coach, who has been absent from the football world since being fired from United’s coaching job on January 5, held talks with Italian club officials in Portugal last week.
The desire to sign Amorim comes as part of a comprehensive and robust rebuilding process at Milan following the sacking of coach Massimiliano Allegri and the club’s executive staff following Champions League qualification.
Milan had originally planned to appoint Spain’s Andoni Iraola, the former Bournemouth coach, but Liverpool’s sudden sacking of coach Arne Sloat and the appointment of a Basque coach as a replacement prevented that.
The newspaper notes that the officials of “Milan” have also spoken with the coach of the US national team Mauricio Pochettino, and the former coach of “Crystal Palace” Oliver Glassner, the coach of “Al Ahli” of Saudi Arabia Mathias Jaisse and the coach of Stuttgart Sebastian Hoeness have also appeared in the circle of interest.
In the same context, Fabrizio Romano wrote on his Facebook page: Ruben Amorim has agreed to all the terms discussed with Milan this week.
The former “Manchester United” coach has been ahead of Mathias Yassel because he wants the job and is ready to accept all the terms of the contract.
The Mercato expert continued. “Negotiations are at an advanced stage and Amorim is waiting for the green light from Milan.”
