Wydad player’s case…dismissed? "glass" Was Zamalek not given a penalty?

A decisive answer settles the dispute

Fahmi Belhaj, the lawyer of Moroccan player Salah Mossadegh, currently a player for Wydad Sports Club and formerly of Zamalek, has announced that an agreement has been reached between the player and the White Club in the dispute before the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).

Salah Mossadeq has won a ruling from FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber awarding him more than $800,000 in damages from Zamalek after his contract was unilaterally terminated on fair sporting grounds without receiving his financial payments.

This resulted in a registration suspension penalty for the club for two consecutive registration periods.

Belhaj said during the “From Cairo” program of “On Sport” TV channel. “An agreement was reached and signed between Zamalek and Mossadegh. The player also made a formal request to FIFA on June 9, where he confirmed that he had no objection to the suspension of the club’s punishment, and thus the crisis was resolved.”

He added that this comment “does not affect the condition of the player”, expressing hope that the punishment imposed on Zamalek will be lifted.

Belhaj criticized the so-called “experts of FIFA regulations”, stressing that these appointments are not based on any legal basis and that it refers only to specialized lawyers.

He also described as “false” reports that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected Zamalek’s request to suspend the penalty after the Mossadegh case was settled, explaining that the court has yet to send any official ruling or response on the matter.

In response to claims linking Zamalek’s punishment to a backlog, Belhaj said those claims were “inaccurate”.

He explained that Article 17 of the FIFA Statutes does not require precedents to impose a penalty of suspension of registration and that the reason for the penalty is the termination of the contract without a lawful reason or outside the lawful period.

He noted that the precedents can be used to evaluate the behavior of the club and increase the punishment, but they are not a prerequisite for their application.
