Anthropic cuts access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 following the government’s plan

On Friday evening, the government ordered Anthropic to stop the entry Legend 5 and Mythos 5 for all foreign countries, inside and outside the US, due to national security concerns. The order included Anthropic employees. To meet this demand, the company has cut off access to samples for all customers.

In a wordsAnthropic said that while it is following the law, the government “has not provided detailed national security information.” Instead, it says that any evidence of jailbreaks was provided verbally, and that the vulnerabilities found were minor and found through other versions, including GPT 5.5.

In its statement, the company explains what it has done to protect Fable and Mythos, including working with the US and UK governments and changing data retention policy to help track down attempts to use it for malicious purposes. He goes on to say:

We didn’t even receive the disclosure of the jailbreak that never happened that had negative consequences. The dungeon horrors that have been revealed to us are either good answers or just ones we’ve found that don’t offer Mythos upgrades.
