Beth Meade: Man City have signed the England international on a free transfer from Arsenal


Manchester City have confirmed the signing of England forward Beth Meade on a free transfer from Arsenal.

The 31-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the new Women’s Super League champions after leaving the Gunners when her contract expired in May.

He has 81 caps for his country, was part of the Lionesses sides that won the European Championship in 2022 and 2025 and scored for England against Ukraine on Tuesday.

“It was a no-brainer for me,” Mead said. “I think the way City play is really good for me and can get something extra out of my game.”

He is set to join England team-mate Niamh Charles in Manchester after City agreed a fee with Chelsea on Wednesday.

Meade spent nine years at Arsenal, winning the WSL, Champions League and three League Cups while in north London.

He was given An emotional farewell during the Gunners’ final home game of the season against Everton in May, but has told club media he is ready for a “new chapter” at Manchester City.

“I’m very proud to be here,” he said. “I think this is a place where I can really fit in and help bring a different dynamic to the team.”

Therese Sjogran, City’s director of women’s football, added: “Beth’s achievements in the game speak for themselves. Winning the double last season was a special chapter in our history, but one we look to build on next season.

“Signing a player of Beth’s quality and ability can only help make that happen.

Meade will bolster a star-studded City frontline that includes fellow England winger Lauren Hemp, Brazil forward Caroline, Netherlands striker Vivienne Miedema and WSL Player of the Season Khadijah Shaw. His future is promising In favor of Andre Zeglertz at the end of the campaign.
