UFC: Paddy Pimblett blames ego for Justin Gaethje loss as fight returns to camp

Pimblett threw 170 strikes to Gaethje’s 200, with the contest largely contested on the feet.

Gaethje, 37, knocked out Pimblett twice en route to securing the interim belt and shot at Ilya Topuria. UFC White House June 14.

Pimblett is back in camp and aims to return to action at UFC 329 in July.

The 31-year-old is waiting to name an opponent but Frenchman Benoit St-Denis, currently on a four-fight winning streak, is rumored to be the current front-runner.

Pimblett said he would be interested in a rematch with Gaethje in the future.

“I have to show everybody why I deserve this title shot, show everybody that I’m going to get another one in the near future,” Pimblett said.

“I hope (Justin) beats Ilya so I can fight him again.

“That’s what I’m hoping for. He’s got a big question by beating Ilya Topuria.”
