After the incident of hitting the referee, the Asian spoils the dreams of the Al-Ittihad star.

The Asian Football Confederation has announced a fiery penalty against Al-Ittihad defender Ahmed Sharahili for attacking the referee in his team’s match against Japan’s Machida in the quarter-finals of the last round of the Asian Elite.

Al-Ittihad bowed out of the tournament with an unanswered goal to Machida, a match that saw a number of controversial refereeing decisions.

After the match, Sharahili rushed and strongly pushed the referee, which prompted the latter to show him a red card.

The FFA decided to punish Ahmed Sharahili by suspending him for 10 matches from the next edition of the Elite Championship, in addition to fining him $10,000.

Sharahili will therefore miss most of Al-Ittihad’s matches should the latter be given an advanced role in the next edition.

Al-Ittihad will qualify for the tournament’s qualifying play-offs after finishing fifth in the Rushen League last season.
