Laporta uses a hard-working man to save Barcelona.

Today, Thursday, a press release reveals Barcelona president-elect Joan Laporta’s plan to strengthen the financial sector at the start of his new term.

He will take over Juan LabortaThe winner of the “Barcelona” football club’s presidential elections held on March 15 will assume his position on July 1, starting the second term of the club’s president.

The Barcelona president aims to complete his project and solve the club’s financial crisis once and for all.

In this context, and as reported by El Confidencial, Laporta hired an official with extensive experience in the financial sector to face this challenge; Sergio Serrano, CEO of Banco Sabadell, known for his role in restructuring the Mediterranean Savings Fund (CAM).

With nearly 25 years of experience in the capital markets, he will join FC Barcelona as the new CFO.

His arrival is part of the final phase of an economic restructuring plan launched by the club in 2021.

In this role, Serrano will be responsible for managing the club’s core financial operations in the coming years.

Sergio Serrano will report to Manel del Rio, the club’s general manager, and will also work to strengthen the financial side under Ferran Ulivi, a newly elected board member who is expected to become the club’s vice president of economic affairs after serving as treasurer last season.

Serrano will support a structure that must face global challenges… for example, he must restructure the debts of Espaí Barça.

In fact, the club intends to increase the loan allocated for the project, since “Barca” did not meet the initial demand of 1.45 billion euros.

The new Barcelona coach will have to focus some of his efforts on that in the near future, but there are other challenges with the club’s sponsorship and investment that he will be involved in.
