The Polish striker is looking for a new club after leaving Barcelona
Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing veteran Polish striker Robert Lewandowski in the current transfer window, taking advantage of the player’s free transfer after his retirement from Barcelona.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the management of the Red Devils are closely monitoring Lewandowski’s situation as the club look for an experienced striker who can immediately complement Slovenian Benjamin Sisko in the team’s attacking draft.
The Poland international is well-respected in the corridors of Old Trafford, particularly after his distinguished career with Barcelona, which saw him make 193 appearances and score 120 goals across four seasons.
The prospect of a new experience in the English Premier League could also be attractive to Lewandowski, who has never played in the Premier League during his professional career.
However, the deal is currently far from being finalised, with the player’s financial demands being the most obvious obstacle to its completion.
Reports suggest that Manchester United officials do not seem willing to pay him the wages he was earning at Barcelona, which has slowed down negotiations and left the case open to all possibilities.
Interest in Lewandowski is not limited to the English club, as several American League clubs are closely monitoring his situation, led by the Chicago Fire, in addition to interest from Saudi League clubs who could make huge financial offers.
In light of the many options available to the veteran Polish striker, his future remains uncertain, while expectations suggest his final decision could be delayed for a few weeks until his next destination is determined.
