Fireworks light up Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia during Pope Leo’s visit

Pope Leo XIV unveiled the new – and tallest – tower of Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, describing it as a masterpiece of “stones, colors and light”.

The massive Tower of Jesus Christ, which was completed in February, brought the church to a height of 172.5 meters (566 feet) – making it the tallest church in the world.

Their visit to the iconic basilica also marks 100 years since the death of architect Antoni Gaudi.

Among those who attended the service were the Spanish royal family, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, as well as Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

The Pope’s week-long visit to Spain, which began on Saturday, is his first in 15 years.
