AT&T has introduced a new “Unlimited Day Pass” offered to iPad users who need a short-term connection instead of signing up for a long-term plan. Day passes are available for $3 in the US starting today, offering 24 hours of unlimited data, with no contracts, subscriptions, or credit checks required.
This is available to everyone, including non-AT&T customers, with 24 hours of data activation starting immediately after purchase. The first day’s visit is free as part of the experience. There are no specifications on speed or details mentioned in AT&T’s announcement, but the company says that it “may be “fast for a short period of time if the network is busy.”
Day pass is designed to help users quickly get online when local Wi-Fi is unavailable and to stay connected while traveling or working remotely. Eligible iPads must have eSIM capability. A complete list of supporting examples can be found below, and information available on the AT&T website.
“Our goal with every product is to make it easier for people to stay connected wherever they are, on the devices they use the most,” AT&T chief consumer officer Josh Goodell said in the announcement. “There’s no long-term commitment – connect when you want, when and where you want.”
While the pass-through date is only available on iPads for now, AT&T says it will support other 5G-enabled devices “in the future,” including Android tablets, smartwatches, laptops, and drones. The company also plans to introduce multi-day options, “like weekends and weekends.”
