Man Utd transfer news: The Red Devils continue to explore opportunities to add midfielders and boost their ranks | football news

Manchester United are looking to stretch, strengthen and balance their squad with at least one more midfielder and potentially another forward at Old Trafford this summer.

All but Atalanta’s signature is safe Ederson, United are currently seeking a deal to sign West Ham Matthew Fernandes – eg Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday.

As the club work on other targets, United continue to do background work on Fernandes – who is seen as a viable deal after the Hammers’ relegation – to strengthen the midfield for the club this window.

Sky Sports News West Ham value Fernandez at around £80m and are in no rush to sell the player. The Hammers signed the Portuguese midfielder last summer for an initial fee of £38m.

Nottingham Forest Elliott Anderson United top their list of targets due to their long-term interest in the England midfielder.

Forest rejected an initial offer from neighbors Manchester City and the coming weeks will see United wait to see how Anderson’s future is resolved – possibly after the World Cup – or whether they decide to move on to another target at that point.

United also retain a long-term interest in Bournemouth Alex Scott But as Sky Sports News As reported at the end of May, Bournemouth have opened talks with the Scot over a new contract and are believed to not be for sale this window. Whether United test that resolve remains to be seen.

As United showed with Brighton last season Carlos BalebaThey are less likely to advance on a player if they perceive the opposition’s valuation to be too high.

Nevertheless, the Cameroon international is another option United will continue to have on their radar but any move would require a significant progress in the valuation between the two clubs.

United’s name is Napoli Fisayo Dele-Bashir The Nigeria international is a midfielder on their shortlist.

The former Sheffield Wednesday player has two years left on his contract and although he is happy in Italy, sources close to the player believe he is open to a move to the Premier League.

Will United sign two more midfielders or stick with current options?

The question remains whether United will sign two other midfielders in addition to Ederson Mason Mt Playing in a deep midfield position towards the end of the season.

Tyler Fletcher Also expected to be more involved with the first team next season. The 19-year-old’s added experience will be a huge boost to Scotland’s World Cup campaign when he returns to Carrington later this summer.

A midfielder is expected to leave Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte made little impact last season but started Uruguay’s last two international games in March and could play a big part in their World Cup campaign – something United’s hierarchy will hope will boost any resale value this summer.

Zirkzy’s exit could be a move for the ‘versatile’ forward

United could add a versatile forward this summer depending on potential departures Joshua Zirkzy.

Benjamin Cesko, Brian Mbeumo and Mathews Cunha all reached double figures in their debut seasons at Old Trafford but understandably United can look forward to bolstering their attacking options with more games, including Champions League football.

Aston Villa Morgan Rogers The club is a player the club are interested in, with Villa expected to hear offers around the £80m mark. It remains to be seen whether United can match those numbers in addition to other incomings, but his potential sale would significantly benefit Villa’s ability to reinvest in Unai Emery’s squad this summer.

of Everton Indian education United are looking at another option Sky Sports News As reported in March – but he has three years left on his contract and is understood to be unlikely to do a deal this window.

A lesser-known name in England, Manchester United are also showing interest Lille’s 21-year-old forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo. The young forward can also play on the wing and was included in Belgium’s World Cup squad last season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in Ligue 1.

However, much of United’s forward search will depend on Zirkzy’s future.

He remains a curious case as he has been understood to be a positive influence around the changing room since arriving at the club in 2024 but has not been able to create any kind of momentum on the pitch.

His departure this summer is not certain but if he does leave, it leaves room for United to bolster their forward options.
