Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is looking for Enrique Riquelme, the spy of his rival in the last elections, in the Royal Club.
Perez won the presidential election of “Real”. Which was held last Sunday, surpassing Enrique Riquelme, but the battle between them seems to be still going on.
During his election campaign, Enrique Riquelme cited among his many complaints the exorbitant salaries of many of Real Madrid’s employees, stating that this was one of the reasons for the club’s deteriorating financial situation as structural costs spiraled out of control.
“There are very high executive salaries and non-sporting salary costs. We are talking about dozens of non-sports workers who earn more than a million euros a year,” Riquelme said in the text, according to Mundo Deportivo.
He added: “There are countless areas where costs can be cut without compromising the sporting side of the club.”
He also directed his criticism at the club’s current CEO, Jose Angel Sanchez, whose salary is estimated to be around five million euros a year.
The statements caused a stir at the time, whether during Perez’s election campaign or within Real Madrid itself, as they contained confidential information that could only be released within the club.
The magazine adds: “For this reason, Real Madrid have launched a campaign to find the ‘spy’ who published the news with the clear intention of damaging the current president, Florentino Perez, who was recently re-elected.
