UK temperatures forecast to reach 28C – is a heatwave on the way?

While there will be some sunshine for most of England and Wales over the weekend, with southerly winds, temperatures will rise to 22 to 27C.

These temperatures will average around 6 to 8C in early June.

Some warmth will reach northern Ireland and southern Scotland on Sunday with temperatures of 20 to 22C.

It will also be cloudy over northern parts of the UK at the end of the week.

This warmer-than-average weather is forecast to continue into next week, but the official heat wave should see temperatures of 25-28C higher – depending on location – for three days in a row.

While some areas may reach this definition, it is still too little to say for sure. Not all weather models agree on how high pressure will be positioned in the coming week.

Some forecast models have it across the UK, meaning temperatures will stay in the mid to high 20s.

Others move the high pressure eastward and allow it to move back in from the Atlantic Ocean. This will reduce the temperature with clouds and rain.
