Sarcasm on “X” platform. How did Atlético react to their neighbor’s offer to sign Alvarez?
Real Madrid announced in an official statement today, Wednesday, that they have made a financial offer to Atletico Madrid with the aim of signing Argentine striker Julián Alvarez in the current summer transfer window.

Real Madrid’s statement said that the offer was rejected by the management of Atletico Madrid, who kept the terms of the contract. “Atlético, after studying and evaluating the offer, thanked the club for the offer made within the framework of the good relations between the two clubs and rejected it, referring to the penalty clause in the player’s contract.”
The rejection comes as the Argentine striker’s contract has a release clause of around 500 million euros, reflecting the desire of the Atletico Madrid management to extend his contract until 2030, after joining the team in the summer of 2024 from English side Manchester City.
The 26-year-old is attracting considerable attention from the two poles of Spanish football in the current Mercato, Real Madrid and Barcelona, thanks to the technical levels he has displayed with the Rojiblancos.
Social media platforms have witnessed the interaction of the management of Atletico Madrid. The club’s official X platform posted a tweet that included a “laughing emoji” and a quote from Real Madrid’s statement, confirming the club’s commitment to rejecting the offer.
Atletico Madrid then posted another tweet in which he wrote the following.

2- You seem to have confused decency (good manners) with gratitude, but to leave no room for doubt, we are not grateful to you for anything.
3. We have not investigated or considered any offer made for Julian (Alvarez).

The mockery did not stop there, as “Atletico” also published this tweet. “Note: Taking advantage of your good relationship with your new president, let’s see if you can stop kidnapping our academy players. Thank you very much.”
