A Spanish press release revealed today, Tuesday, the secret of Real Madrid’s delay in officially announcing that Portuguese Jose Mourinho will take over as the team’s head coach.
Today, Tuesday, the Portuguese coach arrived in Madrid, the capital of SpainPreparing to officially take up his duties with Real Madrid tomorrow, Wednesday, at the training headquarters in Valdebebas.
Mourinho took his entire technical staff with him in a move aimed at making up for the time when many files within the club were suspended during the last campaign.
But the official announcement of Mourinho’s appointment as the new coach of Real Madrid was delayed more than expected.
Mundo Deportivo newspaper stated that the reason is that Benfica must officially announce that Real Madrid have paid the 15 million euro release clause that allows the Portuguese coach to join the royal club.
Benfica must notify Portugal’s stock market authority of any such deal, and they have already done so a few days ago, confirming that Real Madrid will pay €15 million, and must now report that they have received the money.
Until this happens, “Real” cannot officially announce the arrival of Mourinho. Additionally, the club is expected to issue a preliminary statement officially announcing Arbeloa’s departure.
