Senegal’s soccer federation has responded to videos showing the first-team delegation self-checking upon arrival in the United States.
Senegal’s soccer team’s arrival in the United States in preparation for the 2026 World Cup sparked widespread controversy after videos and photos surfaced showing the players undergoing strict security procedures on an airport runway shortly after landing in what observers saw as a major insult to the team.

“As part of the logistics of the transport, the bus carrying the national team left the Raleigh hotel and headed straight for the airport runway. This procedure allowed players and members of the technical staff to go through all security and police checks directly below the plane, without the need to go through the normal areas of the airport building and departure lounges.”

“This measure was primarily aimed at improving the delegation’s travel time and boarding their special flight to San Antonio.”
He added: “We would like to emphasize that this procedure was carried out in compliance with the current airport security rules and no significant incidents were reported.”
He concluded. “The special trip between Raleigh and San Antonio took place under excellent conditions and the entire delegation arrived at their destination safely.”
