Despite his lackluster performance in the Roosters’ 3-1 win against Northern Ireland yesterday, France captain Kylian Mbappe stole the spotlight with fiery statements that reflected his far-reaching ambitions ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
While the French Football Federation set the minimum goal of the French mission to reach the semi-finals, Mbappe made statements to the Spanish mediaIn which he emphasized that his ambitions significantly exceed the official goals that have been set.
In the statements of the Spanish “AS” newspaper, Mbappe expressed his surprise in a “minimum” tone, saying: “Our goal is to win the World Championship… We are going to the USA only for the podium and the title. I don’t understand this external talk that limits our goal to reach the semi-finals.”
“If the goal is only the semi-finals, this means we will stop playing and go back to our homes as soon as we reach this stage. Of course not, the goal is the cup and this is the dream that everyone has without exception.”
The announcements raise expectations for the France squad and confirm Mbappe’s desire to lead the current generation of Roosters to regain the world throne in American stadiums this summer.
It is noted that: France beat Northern Ireland (3-1) thanks to a Michael Olisse hat-trickThis happened after the previous loss against Ivory Coast (2-1).
