The swap deal brings Tottenham closer to a replacement for Christian Romero

Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Juventus’ Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer to compensate for the expected departure of Argentine Cristian Romero in the summer transfer window.

Italian newspaper “Tuttosport” reported that the management of the London club has Bremer at the top of the list of defensive alternatives, given the interest of several major European clubs in the services of the player, who has a €58 million release clause in his contract with “Juventus”.

The paper added that Tottenham are considering including their Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in the deal in an attempt to reduce the financial fee required to sign the Brazilian defender.

The offer could be accepted by Juventus, who are looking for a new goalkeeper to strengthen their ranks, and Vicario is among the names being suggested, although the Bianconeri’s current priority is to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Bremer has a contract with Juventus that runs until the summer of 2029, but the Italian club are open to the idea of selling him this summer in order to secure financial liquidity, especially given the player’s advanced age and the recurrence of physical injuries in recent seasons.
