In an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, The Guardian said that he hoped that British municipalities would bring Ukrainian flags. Elsewhere, the newspaper reported, “Israel and Iran have stepped back from full-blown conflict.” Both countries said they had stopped attacking each other, and reported that it was the first exchange of fire since April. The issue follows Donald Trump’s appeal for an “immediate ceasefire”, the paper said, after the resurgence of attacks “will return to an all-out regional war in the Middle East”.
