Wales forward Ellis Hughes has left promoted Crystal Palace

Wales forward Elise Hughes has left Crystal Palace, just over a month after helping them return to the Women’s Super League.

The 25-year-old announced his departure on social media as he helped Wales prepare for Tuesday night’s crucial World Cup qualifier Against the Czech Republic in Cardiff.

“After four years, two promotions, a league trophy and some of the best moments of my career, it’s time to say goodbye,” Hughes wrote.

“The highest highs and the lowest lows have come in a Palace shirt, but I leave a better player and person than when I arrived and for that I will always be grateful. Thanks to the club, the fans and my team-mates for supporting me through it all.

“Thank you, Crystal Palace.”

Hughes did not reveal where his future lies.
