Worrying message from De Bruyne ahead of World Cup clash with Egypt

Strong injury

Express Kevin De Bruyne, Napoli and Belgium midfielderHe expressed his regret for the serious injury he received at the beginning of the last season.

De Bruyne said in statements given to the Italian “Tutto Mercato Web” network. “It’s hard to explain on camera. At first I was scared because I had already injured my hip two years ago. That’s why I decided to rehabilitate here in Belgium, because I have complete trust in Levin Maišalek and his staff.”

De Bruyne was sidelined for around five months, from late October 2025 to early March 2026, missing 30 games for club and country in all competitions.

The Belgian midfielder added. “I spent practically the entire qualifying period here in Belgium, and I think this was the best option.”

De Bruyne continued. “I never had any setbacks or moments where I didn’t feel comfortable, nor did I feel any pain or discomfort. It’s a shame because I started the season very well and felt in great physical condition, but now I’m looking forward with confidence.”

In the 2025-2026 season, De Bruyne scored 5 goals and 4 assists in 21 matches for Napoli in all competitions.

De Bruyne is currently in the squad for Belgium coach Rudy Garcia in preparation for the 2026 World Cup finals, which start in a few days.

“I hope to be at my best as soon as possible … I feel ready and I am sure that after two games I will regain my fitness and be back to my full level.”

De Bruyne’s comments mean he will not be fully fit for the Red Devils’ opening game against Egypt in the 2026 World Cup.
