World Cup 2026: Norway boss calls Scotland’s Clarke ‘unprofessional’

“I don’t think the injury they’re blaming came from last training session. It’s not the case, it’s disappointing, it’s unprofessional.

But we have to live with it. That’s why we tweaked the game a bit.

Three days after Scotland face Haiti in Group Three, Norway begin their Group 1 campaign against Iraq next Tuesday.

Clarke used most of the squad as the Scots beat Bolivia 4-0 in their final international friendly on Saturday.

However, Norway’s manager, former Fulham defender Brad Hangeland, said they would base their World Cup preparations on behind-closed-doors friendlies for “several months” before arriving at their base in Greensboro, 90 miles from Scotland’s training camp in Charlotte.

“It’s a shame to cancel it two days ago,” he added. “We can’t do anything about it.

“We just have to forget about it and do the best. But there was a lot of organization, agreements and gentlemen’s agreements and then suddenly they don’t want it.

“I think that was weak, to say the least.”
