Dan Unveils ‘The Rock’ for Senegalese Lions… an exclusive gift before they face Saudi Arabia

Former Senegalese player Jorge Dieng hosted his country’s national team at the San Antonio Spurs stadium in Texas, USA, as part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup, with a visit that saw an exchange of gifts and souvenirs days before the tournament kicked off.

Senegal’s national team announced through their social media accounts. “The Teranga Lions discovered the facilities at The Rock, Spurs’ training facility yesterday, Sunday,” along with pictures from the visit after the team arrived in San Antonio.

A tour of giant structures

The program included an introductory tour of the massive facilities used by the NBA finalist San Antonio Spurs, as well as a dinner hosted by Deng in honor of his guests.

Dan, a former center who retired in 2023 after his final season with the San Antonio Spurs, serves as assistant general manager of the Austin Spurs, the reserve team for French star Victor Wimpanyama in the Development League.

Gift exchange

As a prominent Teranga Lions fan, Dieng received a Senegal national team jersey signed by all 26 players invited by coach Pape Tiou to participate in the World Cup.

In return, each Senegalese player received a San Antonio Spurs shirt with their name and number on it, a symbolic gesture that cemented the atmosphere of friendship between the two sides.

Ready to face the roosters

The visit comes as part of Senegal’s national team’s preparations for their first match at the 2026 World Cup against France next Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
