French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is close to realizing his dream move to a major European club after an exceptional season with Crystal Palace. Milan have reportedly renewed their interest in the player.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that the Rossoneri plan to include the 28-year-old Matita with coach Oliver Glassner as part of a radical overhaul of the squad, stressing that the club have verified the player’s full recovery from the knee injury that caused his transfer to fail last January.
From disappointment to glory
Matita endured a torrid winter when he was set to join AC Milan last January, a deal that would have given him a better chance at the World Cup.
But the deal collapsed at the last minute due to health problems with his knee, in a difficult situation that left him very disappointed.
But the French forward ended the season with an exceptional performance, winning the Europa Conference League title and even scoring the decisive winning goal in the final against Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.
Matita scored 12 league goals this season, with a remarkable performance that convinced coach Didier Deschamps to invite him to the World Cup, fulfilling his dream of representing the Roosters at the World Cup for the USA.
