Former Al-Nasr star hits Ghazal Al-Zaem
Al-Nasr legend Fahd Al-Harifi has fired back at one of Al-Hilal’s stars with fiery comments ahead of Saudi Arabia’s 2026 World Cup finals.
The group of “Greens” is placed in Group Eight, which includes Uruguay, Cape Verde and Spain, and it is one of the most difficult groups of the tournament.
“He had a lot of confidence from the coaches that followed the national team, but I see the player getting more credit than his true technical ability on the pitch,” Al-Harifi told Dorina Gear.
He explained that Kanu does not have the characteristics the team needs in midfield, noting that he is not dynamic or quick on the ball, nor does he excel in roles that require him to cover large areas or constantly create rhythm.
He added that the player’s most obvious strengths are his shooting, passing and some skillful aspects, but that is not enough from his point of view to warrant a starting place in the national team, especially with the various technical needs in the midfield.
He expressed his surprise at the continued confidence in Keno, stressing that his opinion was based purely on technical vision and had nothing to do with club affiliation or player status with his team.
Al-Harifi stressed that the Saudi Arabian national team needs elements with different qualities in the midfield, especially in terms of vitality, speed and the ability to connect the lines, given that these characteristics are not sufficiently available in Kano.
It is worth noting that Kanu is one of the most important elements that the Saudi national team has relied on in recent years, and Al-Harifi’s statements have caused controversy.
