During a friendly meeting
Morocco Under-23s managed a valuable 2-1 win over Comoros in a friendly that brought the two teams together last Saturday thanks to a brilliant performance from Rennes’ Frenchman Yasser Zubiri, who scored both goals in the match.
This clash was replaced by Comoros against Rwanda, which was canceled due to health reasons, as French coach Hubert Velault took the opportunity to test his players’ fitness against a young and ambitious opponent.
Zubiri, the star of the match
Yasser Zubiri dominated the match from the opening minutes, taking advantage of his absence from Morocco’s first World Cup squad to prove his worth by joining the senior Atlas Lions in the near future.
Zubiri opened the scoring for the Moroccan Olympic team with the first goal before adding a second to complete his brace and put his side in a comfortable position, although the Comoros reduced the gap to one goal, which was not enough to avoid defeat.
Zubery was joined by his Rennes counterpart Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, with the pair putting in a remarkable performance that reflects the technical level they have reached in the French league, giving coach Walid Regraghi further options for the future.
Game outside of FIFA accounts
It should be noted that this match was not classified as one of the official FIFA international matches, which means that it will not count in the world ranking table or in the official records of the players, but it was an ideal opportunity for both sides to test their technical options and maintain their physical fitness.
