England vs New Zealand player ratings: Ollie Robinson dominates bowlers in Lord’s Test

Tom Latham – 3

Despite scoring three runs in the match, it was the manner of his dismissal in the second innings that stood out. A loosest drive to gift England a wicket on a pitch where the bowlers didn’t really need any leverage.

Devon Conway – 4

The umpire’s call went against him as Robinson got the roll in the first round but fought back to score 41 in the second to give the Black Caps hope. Two costly drops, one in each innings, knocked a mark or two off his score.

Kane Williamson-3

A Test is great but his record in England is iffy and this game didn’t help his numbers. A duck in his first dig and 18 in the second. With two matches left in his final Test tour of England, he will be hoping for better before he finishes.

Rachin Ravindra – 2

A Test shock for the left-handed batsman. A golden duck in the first innings, he bowled two dollies and left his off stump behind as the second time went cheap.

Daryl Mitchell – 4

England’s kryptonite in the previous series, Mitchell helped the hosts with a poor decision on day one and was caught lbw by Robinson two days later, not out in a rain delay.

Tom Blundell – 3

Steady with the gloves but with the bat he scored eight runs in two innings and was twice undone by the tongue, although on both occasions he did nothing.

Glenn Phillips – 7

Scores of 34 and 44 not out are big numbers in the context of this game. Tried to get the pressure back on the England bowlers, especially in the chase, but with wickets falling around him, there was a lot to do.

Nathan Smith – 8

The least-opened of New Zealand’s seamers in the match, Smith finished with nine wickets, including 6-70, in England’s second innings, as he consistently showed his ability to hit a good area and move the ball both ways.

Kyle Jamieson – 8

Finally back in the side after his injury woes, Bara Semer was superb to get himself on the honor board with a first-innings five-wicket haul and a couple of lopsided strokes with the bat brought the Kiwis close to parity in the first innings.

Will O’Rourke – 7

Of similar height to Jamieson but around 10mph faster, O’Rourke is a real handful and will feel he more than deserved his four wickets in the match after a particularly fiery spell.

Matt Henry – 5

Back spasms restricted Henry to just four overs in the first innings and he was far from 100% as he bowled 11 overs in the second innings. Getting him fully fit for the second Test will be a priority for the Black Caps.
